Membership Categories

Professional Member

Professional Members are consultants whose practice is over one year old and who have been credentialled by the Alliance of Professional Consultants. Professional Members may participate in the APC’s Consultant Referral Service by being listed on the public search function of the APC’s Web Site and are given the opportunity to be listed in the APC’s Directory of Professional Consultants.

Corporate Member

Corporate Members are consulting companies who join the APC as a firm rather than as individual consultants. A Corporate Member is required to apply for credentialling within 18 months of being accepted as a member. The credentialling process is completed by the owner, principal, or senior executive in the Denver office.

Only Professional Members and credentialled Corporate Members are referred through the APC’s Consultant Referral Service.

Associate Member

Associate Members meet the Membership Criteria and agree to abide by the Professional Standards of Practice, but have not yet completed one year in practice or the credentialling process. Associate members may include those that have established or developing practices. Associate memberships are limited to 10% of the total APC membership.

Affiliate Member

Affiliate Members are non-consultant businesses that have demonstrated before the Officers and Board of Directors their value and potential contribution to APC members and their clients. Affiliate memberships are limited to 10% of the total APC membership.

Professional Standards of Practice

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant discloses accurately all relevant credentials, professional experience, education, and pertinent legal or disciplinary history.

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant will not create for prospective or current clients a false or exaggerated impression of his or her competency, will undertake only tasks for which he or she is qualified, and will work to educate clients regarding the results they should likely expect from the consultant’s services or from any sub-contracted or referred service providers.

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant distinguishes clearly the sale of consulting services from the sale of any products, materials, or goods.

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant actively seeks to deliver the best value for the cost to all clients and customers, and enables the client to make informed decisions regarding value received or anticipated.

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant graciously honors all guarantees, warranties, contracts and promises extended to clients, without protest.

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant submits correct and specific billing of all fees and charges, and does not co-mingle the funds or property of clients with their own.

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant does not utilize any client-specific information acquired during the course of serving a client, whether or not identified as proprietary, to aid the business of a direct competitor of that client during or subsequent to the engagement, project or employment.

bldiamsm.gif (887 bytes)A professional consultant at all times avoids any actual or apparent conflict of interest, except with the express written consent of all relevant parties.

Credentialling

One of the cornerstones of the APC, and of benefit both to the membership and the business community we serve, is credentialling of our member consultants.

The goal of the credentialling process is to confirm the professionalism of APC members in the areas of experiential qualifications, formal training and certification, and maturity of practice. Within 18 months of joining the APC, an Associate or Corporate Member must become credentialled in order to retain membership in the organization (a six-month extension may be granted by the Board of Directors under appropriate circumstances).

The credentialling process consists of an application, background verification, and interview process with the APC’s Ethics & Standards Team. If successful, the candidate receives a designation of either Professional Consultant or Advanced Professional Consultant.

APC also grants a Fellow designation, which may be awarded only after one year of active membership and outstanding service to the organization.

Community Involvement

The APC is an active member of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. The organization exhibits in the Chamber’s annual Business Expo, and numerous members volunteer in the Chamber Ambassadors Club and participate in the Leads Group Program.

Corporate Sponsorship

The APC Corporate Sponsor Program provides a venue for organizations to become directly involved in the promotion and growth of professional consulting services to virtually all industries.
